His parents are long dead, his mother having drowned in the water his house overlooks. One day, Simon receives a mysterious book from an antiquarian bookseller; it has been sent to him because it is inscribed with the name Verona Bonn, Simon's grandmother. Simon must unlock the mysteries of the book, and decode his family history, before fate deals its next deadly hand.

This Book Was AWESOME. I really liked it. It was one of those books that you read and you don't want to finish because you don't want to leave the story. It felt like a comfy chair you don't want to get out of because it's wonderful. That's how this felt. I loved Simon and his sister Enola. I love the secrets that come out and the beauty of the water and how it is used in the story. Wonderfully wound together.
